Biography:

Dr. Li was born in Hubei Province of China in 1964. He currently works in Hubei University as a professor in environmental ecology and the dean of the School of Resources and Environmental Science.

From 1980 to 1990, he studied biology in Central China University and achieved his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees. After then he joined Hubei University at Institute of Regional Planning as a lecturer and was promoted as an associate professor in 1994 as the youngest professor in Hubei University. In 1996, he was selected by Chinese Ministry of Education as a visiting scholar to Edinburgh University, the U.K., for studying ecology. In 1999, he moved to Bonn University, Germany, for his doctoral research. After got his doctoral degree in 2003, he worked in the Center for Development Studies (ZEF) in Bonn for half a year. In 2004, he did his post doctoral research at Utsunomiya University in Japan. Dr. Li backed to China Hubei University in 2004. Now he is the panel member for decision makers of Hubei Provincial Government, broad member of Chinese Geographical Society, broad member of Chinese Association of Agricultural Resources and Planning.

Dr. Li's research interests involve environmental ecology and water pollution control in rural China. Work has been conducted in water pollution control planning and re-use of waster water in rural ponds and lakes. In water management, he has provided technical assistance on the assessment of the potential work which involved analysis of waste package performance and detailed review of waste disposal practices in terms of inventory, containers, and modeling releases. He has also developed some techniques for water treatment in rural places including artificial floating island and constructed wetlands.

During past five years, Dr. Li has been taking charged about 20 research projects, among them, seven projects were sponsored by national or international research foundations. He published 70 research papers and three academic works.
